I love walking on wet, quiet nights
With my hands in my jacket pockets
When the lights are reflected in puddles--
That just around the corner
Is a place I've never been,
That the person coming toward me
Is someone I've not seen before,
To whom I could be anyone--
That I know where to go
To find the best dance floor,
The perfect grass for sunbathing,
The juiciest burger ever,
The best sunset vantage point,
Or a room full of smiling faces
(All while avoiding traffic on the way).
Despite everything that can and does go wrong,
In the end, we fall in love with places
Where we're always finding something new,
Yet we feel that we belong.
With my hands in my jacket pockets
When the lights are reflected in puddles--
That just around the corner
Is a place I've never been,
That the person coming toward me
Is someone I've not seen before,
To whom I could be anyone--
That I know where to go
To find the best dance floor,
The perfect grass for sunbathing,
The juiciest burger ever,
The best sunset vantage point,
Or a room full of smiling faces
(All while avoiding traffic on the way).
Despite everything that can and does go wrong,
In the end, we fall in love with places
Where we're always finding something new,
Yet we feel that we belong.
